roller q derby a - Juke Boxx - Part 3
DARSTROSITY: Derby wives...got any?
JUKE BOXX: Harlot Bronte owns my heart, formerly of Mad Rollin Dolls, and currently with Suburbia in NY
D: The North Central is stacked with great top ranked teams, who do
expect this season?
JB: I'm excited to see what new strategies Windy City and Naptown employ this year. Detroit's not going anywhere soon either.
D: In one word...what's the best thing to do at an after party?
JB: WIN
D: Any words of wisdom to the derby folk out there?
JB: Keep turning left. Skate as much as you can!
D: LAST QUESTION...are you really a Juke Box Hero (Foreigner Reference)
JB: YES! Of course!.... As Val Capone would say "She's got points in her eyes"

roller q derby a - Juke Boxx - Part 2
DARSTROSITY: Your skills are amazing. for example at NC regionals you
attempted a apex jump against Detroit. Any other memorable apex jumps
you did?
JUKE BOXX: I'd say the biggest one I've pulled off would be against Nashville. I actually jumped it twice in one jam. Probably, one of my most badass moments in derby.
D: Your team has been good off and on, what motivation you use for your team?
JB: I wouldn't really say that we have been good off and on, we have been building towards a goal and have been fairly consistent in our line of momentum. We look at each game as an opportunity to learn and grow so that when it comes tourney time, we are ready. I'd say our motivation comes from that goal of being the last team standing and overall being the best skaters we can be.
D: You got to play at regionals and last year the championships. What's the experience to be in those tournaments.
It's amazing. Obviously skating at that level is just the bees knees, and the main reason I want to play this sport. That level of gameplay and competition is just so exciting. At this point I'm going into my 4th travel season, and each tourney is chance to see all of my friends I've made these past years.
D: When you played your first game, how many fans did you get?
JB: I think it was about 1,700 in the MRD season opener... My jamming debut was a 20 pointer :)
D: Minnesota is known for polka music. You ever done the polka on skates.
JB: Absolutely! In fact, Harmony and I were polka"ing" during warmups our last bout while the band was warming up.
D: If you go back to championships, what team you want to play against?
JB: Gotham - obvi everyone wants a chance at the champ, Kansas City because I'm just a big fan.

roller q derby a - Juke Boxx - Part 1
DARSTROSITY: What's your derby name?
JUKE BOXX: Juke Boxx
D: How did you get that name?
JB: My friend LOLcat told me that I completely juked my way through a pack. We came up with Juking boxx left and right! I liked it instantly, it also goes along with the fact that I used to jamskate and often have purses with speakers in them
D: How long you been skating, and skating for derby?
JB: I've been skating pretty much my whole life. I worked at a roller rink growing up and did every job in that place.
D: How did you got into roller derby?
JB: Just saw it online, I honestly really missed skating and being on a team. I had never seen a bout until after I had already been drafted.
D: How long you played for Minnesota?
JB: This may will be 2 years with MNRG. Before that I was in Madison's Dairyland Dolls for a season and a half.
D: Playing with Minnesota, what did you learn the most from them?
JB: Honestly, part of me learned to chill out about derby a bit. It's really great and quite difficult to find a balance with life and, and that was something I didn't necessarily have before. This is a team that is really dedicated without having to have all of the "requirements" placed on the skaters. People just do what they can when they can. It's nice to not have or give that extra pressure and still have be apart of this great thing but have not feel pressured to completely give your life outside of derby up.
