So Prediction Time?
Yeah so I thought what be a better way to do predictions on this site. Almost every week I’ll post my predictions for 4 to 5 games of the week. I’ll do this from April (official derby season) to WFTDA Championships. This is a test run. You can post your predictions by rebloging this post.
Disclaimer: I’m a roller derby fan and not a derby news analyst, so my predictions...

roller q derby a - Dora The Destroyer - Part 3
PART THREE
DARSTROSITY: Derby wives? Got any?
DORA THE DESTROYER: Noxious Donna is my derby wife within the league. Fonda Kicknbutz is my derby mommy, and I call Amooze Booche my derby girlfriend. I'm straight but I love to joke with her.
D: What's the best thing to do at an after party?
DTD: Ha. I suppose the right answer would be drinking and dancing, but seeing as how I do neither, I usually just hang out somewhere and observe.
D: In one word...whats the best thing to do before going into roller derby?
DTD: Focus.
D: Any words of wisdom to the derby folk out there?
DTD: Focus.
D: Finish this chant...LONG LIVE NAPTOWN...
DTD: Naptown Forever!

roller q derby a - Dora The Destroyer - Part 2
PART TWO
DARSTROSITY: You've gotten a lot of complements on your playing. Whats the best comment you gotten so far? DORA THE DESTROYER: Although it's just roller derby, it's awesome to have girls look up to you just for working really hard to do something you love. I'm not sure there is a better compliment than someone telling you that you're their hero. That and getting MVP is a compliment on its own.
D: You have been know to wear the yellow knee pads. Any funny stories about them?
DTD: I've really only been wearing the yellow pads since October. I hadn't replaced my knee pads in a while and when I bruised my knee earlier the week of Regionals, I decided it was time. I was browsing the booths at our event and saw these pads. The interior is awesome and I like how thick they are. I really wanted the purple or red but they didn't have my size. I'm pretty impulsive when it comes to purchases so I just settled for the yellow ones. Plus, the Velcro strap says Destroyer, I had to have them.
D: You got to play at regionals for two years and this year championships. What's the experience to be in those tournaments?
DTD: Last year's Regionals were awesome but I wasn't at my best mentally during play because I really wanted to do well but I was also scared of reinjuring my recent injury that I had had. This year's Regionals was amazing. I went into each game with a lot more confidence and focus which made a big difference. Championships is a different story. We weren't prepared for what was to come. We definitely have some new goals in mind now.
D: If you go back to championships, what team you want to play against?
DTD: I'm such a derby geek, I would really be pretty honored to play anyone at Championships.
D: Best game you ever played?
DTD: I'd have to say out game against Detroit at Regionals this year. That was the 4th time we've played them, my third, and we FINALLY beat them and came back from a decent size defecit.
D: When you played your first game, how many fans did you get?
DTD: Ha. My first game was with our B team, the Warning Belles, in May of 2009. I think I was in all of 2 jams but still somehow seemed to gain a few fans of little girls. Fairly positive it was only because of my name, not my playing.
D: Explain the dora backpack you have during your intro.
DTD: Dora the Explorer has a backpack for exploring, I figured I needed one for ass kicking.
D: Now i've been noticing that few teams from another region go face 2 of the best west coast teams. You ever thought about doing it?
DTD: Oh, I definitely have. I'm a big fan of derby in general and I would LOVE to go play some of those teams. Big fan of Rocky but I also love Rat, Rose and Oly.

roller q derby a - Dora The Destroyer - Part 1
PART ONE
DARSTROSITY: Derby name?
DORA THE DESTROYER: Dora the Destroyer
D: How did you get that name?
DTD: All the ones I originally thought of were already taken! My ex and I were flipping through a website full of cartoon characters seeing what kind of names we could come up with. He said Dora the Destroyer and I thought it was hilarious. I text out a mass vote on that name, Alice Sullen (a play on Alice Cullen from twilight but apparently a lot of people didn't even know what 'sullen' meant and didn't get it), and Natasha Fatale (the crazy lady from Rocky and Bullwinkle). Dora won the vote.
D: How long you have been skating, and skating for derby?
DTD: I grew up ice skating in Delaware. Before derby I hadn't skated in a long time. I went roller skating once or twice a week to teach myself things to prepare myself for tryouts which would happen about 6 weeks later. In February of 2012 I will have been playing roller derby for 3 years.
D: How did you got into roller derby?
DTD: I started hearing the name more and more and it struck interest. The season used to start in January and as a New Year's goal, I decided to make sure I check out my first bout. I did a few weeks later then tried out the next month.
D: How long you played for Naptown?
DTD: Almost 3 years.
D: Playing with naptown, what did you learn the most from them?
DTD: I have learned so much and am still learning. Derby has definitely given me more confidence and has really helped me with my mental game recently. I used to be pretty quick on getting myself down for not doing something up to par to my or my coach's expectations or I'd let it get in my head too quickly if I had a bad jam. Getting my mental focus together is definitely something I'm grateful for and I'm glad we're drilling it into our heads because it helps me in and out of derby.
